About Us

Tony’s family have been farming at Halberton Court since the 1960s. At that time they were mainly dairy and arable farmers and were leasing the farm from Percy Maunder, and later from his son John. When in 1992 the Maunder family decided to sell up Tony bought the Farm with his parents and sold dairy cows to help finance the purchase, changing their focus to arable and vegetables. By 2001 the Stevens family recognised the opportunity to open a farm shop in the village, having been selling some veg from an honesty box at the end of the road. The business quickly expanded and in 2007 Tony and Janet invested in a larger shop, extended the range of products available, and opened a cafe on the site of the original shop.

Today Halberton Court Farm Shop is so much more. There is the hugely popular and well established Pick Your Own Farm and the Swans Neck Cafe. The vegetables grown on the farm are now sold exclusively at the Farm Shop with a wide range of locally sourced fruit, meat, dairy produce and other grocery items also available. The building had a face lift at the start of 2020, expanding the product range still further, and bringing the butchers and cafe into family ownership for the first time.

When Covid-19 struck and the country went into lockdown, Tony and Janet responded quickly by offering a delivery and collection service to the most vulnerable members of their community.
